UNDERWATER DIVING SERVICES

Classification society in-water CCTV (UWILD) / Visual Inspection

During underwater survey, our divers inspect / ascertain the condition of submerged hull below waterline to identify potential problem areas in order for remedial action to prevent deterioration or further damage.

ü  In-water class survey in lieu of dry docking (ABS, BV, CCS, DNV, GL, KR, LR, NKK, RINA)

  ü  General condition survey

  ü  CCTV Video Inspection

  ü  Visual Inspection

  ü  Damage assessment survey

  ü  Anti-fouling marine growth analysis

ü  Inspection of hull, propeller, rudder and other requested areas such as seachests, anodes, ICCP system

UNDERWATER AND ABOVE WATERLINE HULL CLEANING

Hull cleaning is an effective fuel saving method for vessels. It supports lengthened dry docking interval, regains propulsion effectively by removing existing marine growth, minimises cruising time, stops spread of invasive marine organisms and improves effective lifetime of anti-fouling paint system.

Hull cleaning includes all submerged of port and starboard sides, flat bottom, bilge keels and from bulb to sternpost, rudder blades, and sea chest gratings. We also do above cleaning line as well.

UNDERWATER PROPELLER POLISHING, CUTTING & TRIMMNG

The propeller efficiency deteriorates in time due to the increasing surface roughness and also with the growth of marine fouling. Propeller polishing is an economic and cost effective method to maintain the good performance of vessel. It reduces fuel consumption, reduce the load of main engine function and regain its speed and peak efficiency.

WSMS uses propeller polishing hand motor system with 3M Scotchbrite and 3M Superfine pads to achieve a high quality mirror like finish. After polishing, the surface condition will be checked using the Rubert Comparator Scale which consists of 6 specimens reflect exact replicas of the surface roughness of propeller blades.

UNDERWATER WELDING, BLANKING, PATCHING & PLUGGING

Damage and corrosion on the submerged hull shell plating of the ship requires temporary repair such as welding or patching to prevent further deterioration on damaged areas. While blocked or damaged pipe/valves calls for underwater blanking for safety purposes.

Wet underwater welding commonly uses a variation of shielded metal arc welding, employing a waterproof electrode.

Using specially designed cofferdams, defective shell plating sections can be replaced underwater by class approved permanent dry welding. When necessary, custom fabrication of habitats is carried out on site.

INSTALLATION OF COFFERDAM AND ANODES West Squadron Marine Services is also a specialist in cofferdam design, fabrication and execution of works. Cofferdams are frequently required to execute weld repairs to rig and vessel hulls where wet welding techniques are not to be used, or dry docking facilities are not readily available.

Cofferdam services include:

 ·       Inspection and Maintenance

 ·       Propellers Shaft Seal Change

 ·       Hydrophone Maintenance

 ·       Hull Repair

 ·       Dry Welding

 ·       Sea Chest Maintenance

 ·       Anode Replacement (Sacrificial or impressed current)

GENERAL AND DEEP DIVING

WSMS has a pool of highly qualified commercial divers with accumulated diving experiences in various areas aside from underwater ship maintenance. We also do underwater installation, retrieval and recovery works, provide standby divers, port jetty inspection and cleaning, and other water submerged inspection and repair services.

UNDERWATER REPAIR AND CONSTRUCTION

WSMS has certified professional divers to perform quality technical underwater repair and construction services. Our divers are skilled in every discipline to perform regular inspection and maintenance, as well as occasional repair work and construction jobs on submerged structures and underwater fabrications.
